South Carolina Employment Hits Record
March 13, 2017– The Columbia Regional Business Report published a recent update on the current state of South Carolina’s employment.The “South Carolina’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 4.4% in January, while the number of people working in the state hit a record, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce reported today.
The jobless rate was 4.3% in December. Meanwhile, the number of employed in South Carolina rose to a record 2,209,235, an increase of 9,373 workers.” With the unemployment rate remaining low, employers are finding it increasingly difficult to find a pool of qualifited candidates in the current market. Meanwhile, the economy continues to strengthen with more of the states workforce employed and able to spend a little more freely.
